Martin Parr Says:

What a senseless tragedy to occur against those who gave of themselves, rushing toward danger to risk their own lives, without an ounce of hesitation, so that our communities and those who live within them would be safe. Anyone that answers the call of duty when the tones go off is deserving of the highest respect. My heart goes out to all the members of the Webster Volunteer Fire Department and Police Service. Our brothers paid the ultimate sacrifice. As a former Volunteer Fire Fighter, I feel your pain and nothing I say will ease it in any way. Remember the fallen in all of their glory in your hearts and in your community. Be strong for the families who have lost their father, their uncle, their brother and their best friend. You will find your strength within yourselves, a strength that comes from the passion, conviction and dedication that brought you into the public service. Many will not understand why you answer the call, except for the hundreds of thousands of your brothers and sisters who also serve. We will be your strength as well. Once part of the brotherhood, always part of the brotherhood. God bless you all.

May the peace of God that passes all understanding be with the fallen and their families in this time of sorrow.

A retired UK firefighter with many years experience, I have rarely shed tears, but today I have shed many for your colleagues and others affected recently by the shocking tragedies in the US. But then you caring people are met by these awful sad and circumstances. I am so lost for words but not lost for thoughts. Bless you all and your families.

To their families, friends and fellow Firefighters, please accept my deepest heartfelt condolences on this Christmas Eve. This is an epic loss. Firefighters face the possibility of never returning each time they answer a call, they put themselves in harm’s way in order to help the rest of us. For this, they are better than us. The way that they died is as shocking and hurts as much as the massacre in Newtown. These Firemen were as innocent as the children. It is my hope that they are honored with random acts of kindness done in their memory much like the Newtown victims are being memorialized.
Additionally, I hope that all citizens take a moment to appreciate the risk Firefighters expose themselves to on a daily basis for our benefit.

i am a paid call firefighter (volunteer)on the west coast.
it was little different to run a call today in the nearby town with an LEO presence. fortunately it was only a small debris fire and was controlled by local residents before we all got on scene.
this may be the year i hang up my helmet for the last time, i have been a volunteer firefighter for many years now and have seen many changes in the service. this is one that gives one pause about being in the service.

I am so sorry for y’all. Greater Rochester is a fantastic memory for me and my family. I lived in Perinton years ago and worked at Kodak with many Webster friends.
There was no violent crime that ever happened while I was there. A car going through the ice on Irondaquoit Bay was the most excitement along Lake Dr. when I lived there. It is a peaceful area and I hope peace returns, staying forever.
God be with you. Lynn Sorrell, Kingsport TN

I want to extend my sympathy and prayers to the family and friends of these two hero’s who tragically died doing their duty; a job I’m sure they loved and were passionate about.

The heinous act that resulted in their death sickens me and leaves me at a loss of words. The idea that a person would target others who devote themselves solely to helping people in need makes me lose faith in humanity.

If there is a God, I hope he is looking after them now & may they rest in peace.
