September 9, 2018

West Webster firefighters responded at about 10:30pm last night for the report of a vehicle that broke through the barrier on Lake Rd and crashed into the channel. First arriving units discovered a vehicle submerged on the Irondequoit side of the channel. Thankfully the two occupants were able to get out of the car and were not injured.

Sea Breeze & Pt. Pleasant fire departments also responded to the scene. West Webster and Sea Breeze returned to the scene Sunday morning to assist Webster PD with removing the vehicle. WWFD was assisted Sunday morning by Jim’s Service, Barth Towing, Monroe County Special Operations Team, and the MCSO Scuba team.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
