West Webster Explorer Post 586
The Fire Association sponsors a Firematics Explorer Post through which young men & women interested in Firefighting careers, either paid or volunteer, can obtain training and experience in the firefighting disciplines, including EMS (Emergency Medical Services).

Any children 14 -18 years of age are eligible to apply for membership.
Explorers are provided training and participate in a variety of drills, including live structure fire training. When members have reached a satisfactory level of competence, they are given a pager and allowed to respond to certain categories of calls where they perform support functions for the Fire Department and observe first-hand how the Department operates.

With satisfactory performance, necessary experience, a High School Diploma or GED, and a recommendation from their advisor, they are eligible to apply to the Fire Association for membership on their 18th birthday.
(The Fire Department's minimum age is 18 years.)

Many of the Department's new members come from the Explorer Post.
