On the morning of 12-24-12 at approx. 0530am, West Webster Responded to Lake Rd for the reported vehicle fire next to the house.

Past Chief Michael Chiapperini, FF Tomasz Kaczowka, FF Theodore Scardino and FF Joe Hofstetter came on scene with a car fire with exposure problems.
Shortly after arriving on scene, Firefighters starting taking gunfire from a resident of the home. Chiapperini and Kaczowka would pass away due to their injuries. Hofstetter and Scardino sustained critical injuries.

The fire was intentionally set by the resident on Lake Rd, and planned to ambush first responders and set fire to the neighborhood. Seven homes were damaged by fire including five homes that were completely destroyed.

The loss of our friends and family that day will forever be remembered. The assistance that we received that day and the weeks and months following, shall not be forgotten.
